The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) usually releases two new announcements of substances of very high concern (SVHC) within one year. Four new substances of high concern have been added to the announcement. Currently, there are 201 chemical substances in the Candidate List of Substances of High Concern. Helsinki, 16 July 2019 – The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has added four new substances to the Candidate List due to their toxicity to reproduction, endocrine disrupting and other properties of concern. The latter may have serious effects on human health and the environment of equal concern, including carcinogenic, mutagenic and reproductive toxicity (CMR), persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) and very persistent and extremely bioaccumulative (vPvB) substances, respectively. The decisions for the 2nd and 3rd substances included in the table below were made by the Member State Committee (MSC). The last in the table below is another substance that has been designated as an SVHC by the European Commission due to its endocrine disrupting properties. The MSC referred the SVHC proposal to the committee in 2016.
